ZeroToGardener publishes beginner gardening guides for people growing in small outdoor urban spaces such as balconies, containers, rooftops, and raised beds. This page explains how our content is created and how we try to keep it trustworthy.
Who writes our content
Content is created by Ali Hasan, the founder of ZeroToGardener, drawing on hands-on experience growing plants in a small-space setup. We are hobbyist growers sharing lived experience, not licensed horticulturists, agronomists, or agricultural professionals.
How we research and write
- We favor first-hand experience. Guides are based on what we have actually grown, tried, and sometimes failed at.
- We explain the reasoning behind advice, not just the steps.
- Where a guide states a general gardening fact (for example sunlight hours, container sizes, or watering guidance), we check it against reputable horticulture references and university or government extension resources before publishing.
- We aim for restraint over volume: fewer, deeper guides rather than long padded lists.
Accuracy and corrections
Gardening outcomes vary by climate, season, space, and plant. We do our best to be accurate, but we can make mistakes. If you spot an error, contact us and we will review it. When we correct a meaningful error, we update the guide.
Independence
Our recommendations are based on usefulness to a beginner, not on any commercial relationship. If that ever changes, we will disclose it clearly (see our Affiliate Disclosure). We do not accept payment in exchange for a favorable review or a specific opinion.
Updates
Gardening guidance evolves and so does our own experience. We revisit and update guides over time so they stay useful.
